Analysis of Music Video - Aura Dione - Geronimo

This Pop video by Aura Dione has many generic codes which are linked to the Pop genre of the music industry. The main denotation is the artists looks, this artist is a very pretty female which portrays her self a young rich girl. The reason why this artist wears revealing clothes constantly is because she is targeting the male audience by allowing them to gain sexual pleasure from watching, this is linked to Goodwins theory where he suggests that males watch these types of videos to gain pleasure from watching them. This artist also refers to the young female audience as she represents her self as stylish female icon which most teenage girls will look up to.

The use of iconography is also used throughout this video, for example at the begging of the video we are only able to see the color red instead of seeing all the colors. The color red represents sexiness and passion which are the two ideas that the artist is trying to refer to in her music video.

Lastly the artist presents her self as a rich girl, we are able to see this as trough the opening of the video the female artist throws away the expensive items and it seems as if she didn't even take any notice.

The reason that this artist uses these generic codes in her video is because shes a new upcoming artist and therefore she does not want to experiment on anything new due to the fact that it can not work our and then her carer could be over. In my opinion this artist will make constant use to these remarks until she becomes a little bit more famous and maybe only then she will try new things.
